Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad al-Bashir visited Baghdad this week, meeting Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani to discuss plans to revive the Kirkuk-Banias crude oil pipeline after more than two decades offline.
Discussions centered on “the possibility of reviving the Kirkuk–Banias oil pipeline, in light of the formation of a joint technical committee to assess the condition of the pipeline and explore options for its rehabilitation, as one of the projects planned by the government in its efforts to diversify export outlets,” the prime minister’s office said in a statement.
