Egyptian officials have styled the ongoing (6-18 November) Cop 27 global climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh as an “implementation Cop” in the words of Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla.

Whilst previous Cop gatherings have focused on persuading countries to ratchet up their emissions reduction pledges, the key aim of Cop 27 is to get developed countries and global financial institutions to make good on previous pledges to put the mechanisms in place to finance the energy transition in developing countries.
