Norwegian renewables developer Scatec has begun construction of its 900MW Shadwan wind project near Ras Shukeir on Egypt’s Gulf of Suez, with the first phase targeting commercial operations by end-2027.

Scatec said on 1 October that the $716mn project will generate around 4TWh/year once complete. French utility EDF Power Solutions has signed a joint development agreement targeting a 29% stake, while Scatec plans to bring in additional equity partners. (CONTINUED - 179 WORDS)
