Algeria’s gas exports are up a whopping 64% year-on-year at 41bcm (5.3bn cfd) for the first nine months of 2021 (see chart 1), putting the country on course to finish the year at around 57bcm according to MEES estimates. Such a level would represent an 11-year high for Algeria which has seen its gas output reach new highs on the back of a slew of project start-ups (MEES, 23 July). But the absence of a deal on the continued use of the Gaz Maghreb Europe pipeline remains a key risk to exports (MEES, 1 October).
