Saudi Aramco’s historical R&D focus has been on producing oil and gas, refined products and petrochemicals as effectively and efficiently as possible.

This remains a key focus of the work of its three R&D centers in Saudi Arabia and nine international research and technology offices. But the accelerating energy transition is causing Aramco’s R&D to branch out in new directions. Growing concerns about global warming and resulting changes to consumers’ consumption patterns have forced manufacturers to change their strategic thinking, with energy producers among the most affected.
