Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power has secured contracts for phases II and III of the Noor Midelt solar PV project in central Morocco (see map p18), together totalling 800MW, the company announced this week.
The projects will include 1.2GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS), which can supply the grid with up to 230MW of electricity for two hours during peak demand periods.
