GCC power headlines have been dominated in recent years by renewables, but only three state utilities – those in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman – have significant renewables projects operating and under development when compared with both peak loads and installed powergen capacity.

GCC governments developing utility-scale renewables – the UAE’s two largest emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and on a lesser scale Qatar and Kuwait – have renewables projects operating and under development with a combined 11.93GW of capacity.
