UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar are tendering for solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants with a combined capacity of 7.27GW. Kuwait is lagging behind however, shelving its recently tendered 1.5GW Al-Dabdaba solar park which would have taken the tenders total to 8.77GW (see table).

While utility-scale solar capacity in these countries amounted to a pitiful 513MW at the end of 2018, the start-up of 1.84GW of solar capacity in 2019, with another 1.75GW under construction demonstrates that momentum is building. (CONTINUED - 901 WORDS)
