Oman’s OPWP has awarded one large desalination plant and announced bidders for two more, as it lines up new power and water capacity.
Oman Power and Water Procurement (OPWP) has awarded the contract to build a large desalination plant at Qurayyat and listed bidders for even bigger plants at Barka and Sohar. The projects are part of plans to add 5.17GW of power generation and 730,000 cmd of desalination capacity as OPWP works to meet rising demand (see Table 1).
OPWP awarded the Qurayyat independent water project (IWP) to Singapore’s Hyflux, following the signing of a 20-year water purchase agreement with Qurayyat Desalination Company. (CONTINUED - 468 WORDS)
