Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Italy’s Eni says the company’s Libya output has not been affected by the massive and growing instability affecting the country.
Speaking on an 18 February conference call marking the company’s 2014 results he said that though “the environment [in Libya] is very volatile…until now we didn’t have any damage to our facilities,” adding that “at the moment, we’re producing like in the last quarter, close to 300,000 barrels [of oil equivalent] a day.” This Q4 figure was “very, very high… practically our full capacity,” he says, adding that for 2014 as a whole Eni’s Libyan output averaged 240,000 boe/d.
