Iran’s newly reappointed oil minister Bijan Zanganeh has told the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) to focus on completing existing projects.

Referring to ambitious petrochemicals plans promoted by ministers under former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he told state radio on 31 August that turning Iran into a regional and global petrochem hub was a step to be taken “in the future.” It is not economically justifiable to launch new projects unless current development is first completed, he said.
