Protests at export terminals continue to shut in much of Libya’s oil industry, but Brega reopened on 20 August and key ports Sider and Marsa al-Hariga were poised to restart operations as MEES went to press.

Marsa al-Hariga, near the eastern city of Tobruk “should start loading soon. There is already one tanker there,” a Libyan oil source told MEES on 22 August. Sider, export terminal for the 325,000 b/d Oasis (Waha) group of fields and Total’s 25,000 b/d Mabrouk field, was expected to open on 23 August, a trader, the Libyan oil source and an Oasis official all told MEES.
