Siemens has won an order from Turkish independent power producer (IPP) Cengiz Enerji for a 600mw gas-fired generating set to be installed at Samsun. The German firm said the plant’s efficiency of almost 61% will be the highest of any fossil fuel fired power plant in Turkey. Commissioning is scheduled for the start of 2015. The order is worth €300mn, which includes a long term service contract.

The plant will be built alongside an existing 240mw two-turbine gas-fired combined cycle plant operated by Cengiz. Siemens said the scope of supply comprises a single-shaft ‘power island’ which includes a gas turbine, a steam turbine and a generator, along with a supercritical heat recovery steam generator and control and auxiliary systems.
