Bahrain’s interior ministry announced that state energy firm BapcoEnergies will shoot seismic in the eastern offshore regions of the island for three months starting 14 September. The roughly 250km2 area sits within offshore Block 3, an unexplored part of Bahrain’s offshore acreage.
Bapco is working to shoot 3D seismic across 4,500km2, mostly around the north, east, and south to de-risk offshore acreage to attract international companies back to its waters. Six years ago, France’s TotalEnergies and US’ Chevron signed preliminary deals while Italy’s Eni inked an exploration and production sharing agreement for the northern Block 1.
