Work at Qatar’s massive North Field offshore gas field progressed during the recent US-Iran ceasefire. Satellite imagery shows the first topside of a new offshore facility was installed in early July as part of the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) project.

According to a recent edition of QatarEnergy’s biannual publication “The Pioneer,” two jackets were installed late last year. Between now and 2031, QatarEnergy plans to install seven offshore compression complexes as part of the third phase of the NFPS project aimed at maintaining pressure from the field and wells currently supplying gas to the existing 77mn t/y North Field liquefaction trains (MEES, 18 July 2025).
