Chinese engineering firm Shanxi Installation Group announced on 14 July that it had been awarded the EPC contract for the 500MW Al Kamil I solar PV plant in Oman. It said the contract is worth 1.5bn Yuan ($222mn). Al Kamil I is being developed by a consortium grouping France’s EDF, Oman’s ONEIC and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) and is due online in 2028.

Oman is accelerating its renewable energy plans, with grid operator OETC recently revealing a string of new gigawatt-scale solar projects (MEES, 3 July). The next major project to come online is the 500MW Ibri III solar PV project next year. (CONTINUED - 137 WORDS)
