Turkish pipeline operator Botas signed up to a 15-year gas supply deal for volumes from Azerbaijan’s offshore Absheron field during Baku Energy Week on 1 June. The deal covers a total of 33bcm of gas starting from 2029, implying 2.2bcm/y (213mn cfd), and will underpin the planned second phase of the field’s development.
TotalEnergies (35%), Socar (35%), and XRG (30%) operate the field through the Joint Operating Company of Absheron Petroleum (Jocap). First phase capacity is 1.46bcm/y and 12,000 b/d of condensate, and TotalEnergies says it will move ahead with a 4.5bcm/y and 35,000 b/d second phase expansion by the end of this year.
