Shell’s Mina West-1 development well, located within the North East El Amriya block in Egypt’s offshore tested at 45mn cfd of gas and 1,000 b/d of condensates, the Ministry of Petroleum announced on 28 May.

Shell achieved “promising production results from the drilling and testing operations of the Mina West-1 well, as part of the gas development and production project from the Mina West field,” the ministry says. Operator Shell (60%) is partnered by Kuwaiti state firm Kufpec (40%) at the 0.5tcf Mina West, where the partners took a final investment decision in 2025 and began development work earlier this year (MEES, 20 February).
