Chevron has completed the expansion of its 13.4tcf Tamar gas field offshore Israel, increasing production capacity from 1.1bn cfd to 1.6bn cfd, the US major said in a 16 June statement. Tamar capacity had already increased to 1.35bn cfd in late May following the completion of upgrades to two of the three Ashdod compressors (MEES, 5 June). The start-up of the third compressor has now lifted capacity to the project’s full 1.6bn cfd design level, and capacity is due to gradually ramp up towards 1.6bn cfd by year-end.
“As with any production system, this figure reflects technical capability under optimal conditions, and actual production and sales volumes may vary depending on midstream transmission infrastructure, demand, operational considerations, and contractual agreements,” Chevron says.
