Two of Saudi Arabia’s largest offshore drilling companies announced the suspension of offshore drilling rigs this week. On 24 March, ADES Holding announced that “a handful” of its offshore rigs in GCC countries had been suspended due to the conflict – as well as Saudi Arabia, ADES also has offshore rigs in Qatar. This was followed on 26 March by Arabian Drilling announcing the suspension of “some of its offshore rigs.” The moves reflect realities on the ground, where GCC states have focused production shut-ins on offshore fields (MEES, 20 March).
