Strong gas demand saw South Korea import a record annual 46.72mn tons of LNG for 2025 latest official data shows. Imports were up 1% year on year, defying earlier forecasts that gas would be displaced by nuclear power.

Korea’s top supplier for 2025 was Australia, with a record 14.68mn tons up 29% year on year. Australia consolidated its position as Korea’s top supplier, with its market share rising to a record 31.4%, after overtaking Qatar in 2022.
