Several generators at the main Zawiya power plant in northern Libya were forced offline for a number of hours on 30 August after an unidentified armed group shut down the gas pipeline feeding the facility, state power firm GECOL said in a statement.

“These developments pose a serious threat and risk the total collapse of the power grid, which can force generators offline and lead to widespread blackouts,” the firm warned, urging “immediate intervention” from the relevant authorities to maintain the power supply. (CONTINUED - 192 WORDS)
