Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (Ewa) has launched an international tender to develop the 1.4GW 30 MIGD Sitra Independent Water and Power Plant. Ewa launched prequalification for the plant in November, when it envisioned a smaller capacity of 1.2GW. Ewa expects the plant to start operations in the second quarter of 2028, before ramping up to full commercial operations by the second quarter of 2029.
