Egypt’s gas output and consumption have come under the spotlight again this summer as Cairo has imported record volumes of LNG in order to prevent painful countrywide blackouts (MEES, 26 September). Behind the scenes, Egypt has quietly been increasing renewable energy generation to new record levels.
