Bahrain’s BapcoEnergies announced that the final capacity of Sitra refinery will be 405,000 b/d once the Bahrain Modernization Project (BMP) finishes ramping up. The announcement came during a visit to the refinery by Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa on 8 December.
Exports from the refinery have already begun to surge with the start-up of new units (MEES, 24 October). Senior executives from Bapco have said the last units of the refinery upgrade would be commissioned by the end of 2025, but persistent delays mean this could slip into early 2026.
