Morocco has announced plans to phase out coal power generation by 2040, “subject to adequate international support,” or unconditionally in the 2040s, the Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) said on 23 October.

“The gradual phase out of coal power, combined with the rapid scale-up of renewable energy, will reinforce our energy security and drive clean economic and social growth,” says energy minister Leila Benali, according to the PPCA statement. (CONTINUED - 227 WORDS)
