Adnoc announced on 25 January that it has completed construction of a waste heat recovery project at its downstream hub of Ruwais which will capture enough waste heat to generate up to 230MW. The $600mn project was started in 2018 and recycles heat from the 837,000 b/d Ruwais refining complex (MEES, 16 September 2022). The project was designed to increase power production and thermal efficiency of the facility by around 30% with no additional emissions, and is part of Adnoc’s work to decarbonize its operations.
