Iraq’s oil-for-gas barter deal with Iran “will begin with fuel oil as a first stage,” Iraqi PM Mohammed al-Sudani said on 2 August. With the deal now seemingly aimed at financing this year’s gas imports rather than paying down debts, precise volumes will depend on the volume of Iranian gas supplied.
