The expansion of Egypt’s Midor refinery from 100,000 b/d to 160,000 b/d (5mnt/y to 8mn t/y) is close to completion with Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla on 31 July inaugurating ‘Phase 3’ of expansion including a new 60,000 b/d CDU and 60,000 b/d Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU).

During a tour of the Alexandria facility, Mr Molla oversaw the start of “trial operations of the third phase of the project, which includes the atmospheric [crude] and vacuum distillation complex, the [44,000 b/d] diesel hydrotreater project, the hydrogen production project, the acid water treatment unit, and the cooling water unit,” the Ministry says.
