Infinity Power, a JV of UAE state renewables firm Masdar and Egypt’s Infinity is tapping the London-based EBRD development bank for funding for a proposed 200MW wind farm at Ras Gharib on Egypt’s Gulf of Suez, according to a 4 August EBRD environmental filing.

In June, Masdar, Infinity and Egypt’s Hassan Allam Utilities signed a land agreement with Cairo for the construction of a whopping 10GW wind farm, valued at $10bn, although no location was provided (MEES, 9 June). It is likely though that the mega-project will be located somewhere along the Gulf of Suez, site of all of Egypt’s 1.59GW of installed wind capacity. (CONTINUED - 127 WORDS)
