Egypt’s state New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) on 5 July signed a deal with Norway’s Scatec allocating land in the south of the country for a $5bn, 5GW wind farm for which an MoU was initially penned in November last year (MEES, 11 November 2022).

Unlike the rest of Egypt’s wind powered plans, which are all located on the Gulf of Suez, the land for this project is located in West Sohag, 400km south of Cairo on the west bank of the Nile. (CONTINUED - 220 WORDS)
