The partners at Israel’s two key gas fields, 23tcf Leviathan and 13tcf Tamar, both operated by US major Chevron, revealed in 27 February statements to the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) that start-up of a 46km stretch of offshore pipeline linking Ashdod and Ashkelon has been delayed a further six months.
Announced in January 2021, delivery of the pipeline was initially due between July 2022 and April 2023 before being pushed back to May of this year (MEES, 2 December 2022). Israel network operator INGL, which is constructing the link, informed the partners that due to adverse weather conditions, construction of the pipeline has now been delayed to between Q4 2023 and Q1 2024.
