Norway’s Scatec on 2 December announced the signing at Cop28 in Dubai of “a landmark early-stage cooperation agreement together with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) for a future 1 gigawatt (GW) solar and 200 MWh battery storage project.”
Scatec operates 380MW of solar capacity at Benban in southern Egypt. It also leads the country’s most advanced green hydrogen/ammonia project (MEES, 30 November) and has plans for green methanol too (MEES, 19 May). And, unlike these projects, the latest solar/storage announcement implies that funding is close to being lined up. (CONTINUED - 175 WORDS)
