Shell on 21 November confirmed the discovery of a “gas-bearing reservoir” following the drilling of its Mina West-1 well drilled in 250ms water depth on Egypt’s North East El Amryia offshore block. While Shell does not provide an estimate of gas in place, in October a MEES source at Egypt’s oil ministry provided a figure of 0.5tcf (MEES, 13 October).

Shell says “further evaluation of the acquired data is required to determine the size and recoverable potential of the discovery” which “is an important step forward for Shell Egypt bolstering our growth aspirations and ongoing commitment as a key partner in Egypt’s energy landscape.” (CONTINUED - 225 WORDS)
