The partners at Israel’s key 23tcf Leviathan and 13tcf Tamar gas fields announced on 28 December that a contract to pipe gas to Egypt via the Jordanian section of the Arab Gas Pipeline (AGP) has been extended by twelve months to 1 January 2024.

With capacity constraints on the EMG pipeline that directly links Israel and Egypt last year preventing the ramp up of gas deliveries in line with contractual commitments, US major Chevron, which operates both Leviathan and Tamar, signed up to pipe additional volumes via the much longer AGP route (MEES, 4 March 2022).
