US major Chevron is expecting to drill its first ever Egypt exploration well in September this year, the firm confirmed during a recent meeting with the country’s Petroleum Minister and former Chevron-man, Tarek El Molla.

Chevron will drill the Nargis Block north of the Sinai Peninsula, marking its first well in Egypt since its entry in late 2019 when it was awarded a block in Egypt’s frontier Red Sea region (MEES, 3 January 2020). The East Mediterranean has been a key part of Chevron’s portfolio since its late 2020 takeover of compatriot Noble Energy (MEES, 9 October 2020). (CONTINUED - 851 WORDS)
