Tunisia’s total power supply hit an all-time-high in 2021, with record imports coming from Algeria amid a seasonal supply crunch. With most capacity additions planned to come from massively delayed renewables, could a reliance on Algeria be here to stay?

Not only does Tunisia rely on Algeria for all its gas imports, but for 2021 it drew a record 1.1TWh from its larger neighbor to help keep the lights on.
