Startup of Oman’s Ras Markaz oil storage facility has been pushed back from Q1 this year to Q2 according to Salim al-Hashmi, director general of the project, in quotes carried by state news agency ONA. The first phase consists of eight tanks with combined capacity of 5.7mn barrels, and crude will supply the under construction 230,000 b/d OQ8 refinery at nearby Duqm which is due to start up in 1Q 2023 (MEES, 10 December 2021). The next stage of development at Ras Markaz will be to increase storage capacity to 26.7mn barrels.
