Egypt has extended the deadline for offers on its North King Mariut Offshore (EGY-MED-W19) block to 28 February at the request of prospective bidders.

The block is the one remaining piece of Mediterranean real estate on offer after Cairo last week awarded eight of 24 blocks offered up in its main 2021 bid round (MEES, 7 January). These blocks included nine in the Mediterranean. Whilst Eni snagged the two previously-explored blocks to the east no bids were tabled for the seven larger frontier blocks located in deeper waters. This is after Shell, TotalEnergies, BP, Chevron and ExxonMobil snagged shallower frontier Western Mediterranean acreage in 2020 (MEES, 10 July 2020). (CONTINUED - 707 WORDS)
