Abu Dhabi state renewables firm Masdar announced on 7 August that its Dumat Al Jandal wind farm in Saudi Arabia has been connected to the grid and is producing electricity. The wind farm has not yet been completed, but is ultimately slated to generate 400MW of electricity through 99 wind turbines by the end of 2022.

Masdar (49%) is developing the project alongside France’s EDF (51%) under a 2019 contract awarded as part of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) Phase 1. The other Phase 1 project is the 300MW Sakaka solar facility, which was connected to the grid in late 2019 (MEES, 29 November 2019). (CONTINUED - 98 WORDS)
