Kuwaiti electricity demand continues to set unwanted records this summer, and a fresh peak was reached this week. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) had always projected new demand records would be set this year, forecasting that peak load would rise by 600MW from last year’s peak to reach 15.56GW in 2021, but the scale of this year’s gains has exceeded even those expectations.

The MEW announced on 28 July that peak load that day had shattered previous records, surging to 15.67GW. The previous record of 15.35GW had just been set on 12 July this year (MEES, 16 July), and prior to June this year the peak load had never before hit 15GW. (CONTINUED - 523 WORDS)
