UK major BP is hoping to add to its gas output offshore Egypt’s Nile Delta with drilling ongoing at the Tiye-1 prospect on the North Ras El Esh block (BP 50%op, Eni 50%). The Qaher II jack-up rig is currently in place drilling at a total depth of approximately 3,300 meters.

The well is being drilled in the Nile Delta’s shallow waters, in approximately 20 meters water depth, BP tells MEES. The drilling location is just to the south of the Ras el Bar and El Temsah production leases where the UK major and Eni are also 50/50 partners, with the Italian firm holding operatorship of the latter block (see map).
