Poland’s PGNiG is preparing to drill its first exploration well at Ras Al Khaimah’s Block 5 in the UAE (PGNiG 90%, RAK Gas 10%). Awarded the block in January 2019 (MEES, 18 January 2019), PGNiG has since conducted a 3D seismic survey at the block to identify the best drilling locations (MEES, 23 April).

PGNiG says it “is at the stage of making design and location arrangements for the first exploration well” which it plans to commence in 3Q 2022. “The seismic surveys confirmed the probability of the presence of hydrocarbon deposits in the area of our license. Detailed interpretation of the data will allow us to select a location which will give the best chance for a positive outcome,” says the firm’s president Pawel Majewski. (CONTINUED - 146 WORDS)
