Cyprus’ gas-fired plans are gathering pace as the conversion of the Galea LNG tanker to a 125,000m³ floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) progresses at a shipyard in Singapore. Construction has yet to begin on the jetty and pipeline needed to supply imported gas to the country’s largest power plant at Vasilikos on the south coast but work is expected to be complete by the Autumn of 2022.
