In a boon for Algeria’s dwindling gas fortunes, state firm Sonatrach on 8 February announced the commissioning of a “boosting” project at its supergiant Hassi R’Mel field which aims to “maintain output” at 180mn m³/day (6.36bn cfd, 66 bcm/y) for the next ten years.

'Hassi R’Mel Boosting Phase III' is just the latest in a number of developments at the workhorse field which has accounted for the bulk of Algerian gas production since it first came online in 1961. The scope of the project included the creation of inlet boosting separation and compression facilities which would then feed a gas processing plant. (CONTINUED - 496 WORDS)
