Iraq’s Electricity Minister Majid Mahdi Hantosh this week announced two new power purchase agreements – 200MW from Turkey and 450MW from Iraqi Kurdistan – to help counter crippling electricity blackouts across the country. He says the imports will begin immediately.

“Iraq’s struggles with electricity supply are concentrated especially during these two summer months [July and August], so we will work to begin imports from Turkey and Kurdistan within the next two days,” says Mr Hantosh. (CONTINUED - 1002 WORDS)
