The first cargo of crude oil from Oman’s offshore Yumna field has now been shipped after production began on 17 February. Data intelligence firm Kpler shows that the SCF Pechora loaded around 325,000 barrels of crude from the field on 25 April, discharging it at storage facilities in Fujairah on 29 April. Operator Masirah Oil (92.65% owned by Singapore-listed investment firm Rex) says that crude oil from the field has an API of 42° (MEES, 21 February). Volumes are stored on the 750,000 barrel-capacity Bull Papua Aframax tanker, from which the SCF Pechora loaded.

The Yumna field is currently undergoing appraisal with an extended early production test. Oman’s offshore production is modest and has fallen considerably in recent years. The only other offshore production is from Block 8 which has been operated by Oman state firm Musandam Oil and Gas Company since January 2019 when Norway’s DNO and South Korea’s LG walked away (MEES, 4 January 2019).  (CONTINUED - 149 WORDS)
