Oman’s first utility-scale solar plant the 500MW Ibri 2 has reached financial close, Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power announced 24 March. Awarded last year (MEES, 22 March 2019), the $400mn project is expected to start delivering electricity to Oman’s grid in June 2021.

The Beijing-based Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) leads a consortium of lenders which also includes Bank Muscat, Riyad Bank, Siemens Bank, Standard Chartered and Kuwait’s Warba Bank. (CONTINUED - 112 WORDS)
