Abu Dhabi state firm Adnoc places unconventional reservoirs at the heart of its gas strategy. The firm says “we de-risked an area that is quite massive and capable of delivering 1bn cfd of gas,” adding that “we have extended an area of unconventional gas and oil way beyond what we had envisaged” (MEES, 15 November 2019). That 1bn cfd target is from the Ruwais-Diyab concession (Adnoc 60%, Total 40%), and Adnoc expects gas to enter the market mid-year. Total is more cautious, with E&P President Arnaud Breuillac saying on the sidelines of IP Week in London merely that “it’s a work in progress…we are drilling, doing some tests.”
