The start-up of UK major BP’s Raven field, Phase-3 of the firm’s $12bn West Nile Delta (WND) project offshore Egypt has been delayed MEES learns. BP listed (indeed, still lists) the project as one of five major 2019 international start-ups and as recently as last month said it was still hoping for first gas before the end of 2019. But a MEES source says that technical issues have pushed back start-up at the field that is slated to produce 900mn cfd of gas and 20-25,000 b/d condensate.

This is not necessarily bad news for Cairo which currently has a surplus of gas and is reluctant to sell LNG at currently depressed prices on the global market (MEES, 20 December 2019). (CONTINUED - 247 WORDS)
